Students, a PLP alum who currently works with Refugee and Immigration Services is currently looking for students to perform service hours at YOUR convience! And its OFF CAMPUS! Karen Schomaker, who graduated in May, says:
"We have quite a bit of work that needs to be done in our warehouse and we would love to have some students who can help. It would not need to be a specific event/ day and time. We’re in the office 9am-4pm M-F. They would have to be able to get themselves here since I cannot provide transportation."

· Caroling at the Newport Nursing Home and Hidenwood Retirement Center – NEW!!
Description:
PLP Student volunteers will sing holiday carols to elderly residents. We will start at the Hidenwood Retirement Center and then drive down the road to sing to the residents at the Newport. All volunteers should dress in winter attire (hats and scarves). We will provide the music!!

· Children’s Holiday Party – NEW!!
Description:
LINK of Hampton Roads, the largest provider of homeless services on the Peninsula, are in desperate need of people to come in on Dec. 4th from about5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. They are having a children’s Christmas party with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

· Parent’s Night Out Pajama Party – NEW!!
Description:
Hilton Presbyterian Preschool is hosting a Parent’s Night Out Pajama Party for their preschool students and congregation. The Preschool Board is sponsoring the event to allow parents to drop off their kids and have a few hours to themselves during the busy holiday season.

· Frosty’s Wonderland – NEW!!
Description:
The Foodbank will be collecting every weekend at Frosty’s Wonderland, a component of Holidays at City Center in Newport News. Frosty’s Wonderland has a carousel, toy train, castle/moon bounce, and Frosty himself. Admission is free, but guests wanting to use the area are asked to bring a canned food or monetary donation for the Foodbank. Volunteers will be needed to help us collect donations each weekend starting right after Thanksgiving through December.

Who: 2 to 4 people per shift (most shifts 3 to 4 hours long)
Where: Newport News City Center
When: Friday, Saturday, Sunday each weekend beginning Friday, November 28th
Dress: Dress for the weather, with a holiday twist! Jeans, jackets, hats, scarves, etc. Feel free to wear something festive!!!

· Toy and Gift Drive – NEW!!
Description:
The Newport News Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is seeking support for the holiday season to fill the hearts and spirits of children who have been affected by abuse and neglect. Volunteers will be needed to help us collect donations.
