Please remember that you must register for LDSP 220 for the spring semester if you plan on continuing with the PLP.
If you have not already picked up your handbook from the PLP office, please do so at once!

Freshmen, if you have not already picked up your journal from leadership adventure, please come to the PLP office and get it!

VARIETY SHOW!! This Friday 9pm-11 in the Music and Theater hall. FREE FOOD at 9pm followed by performances from your fellow PLP members!!

Students, please remember the requirements for the program that need to be satisfied by the end of the semester: You need to have completed at least 12.5 hours of community service, of which at least 4 hours must be off campus; You must be involved in at least one campus club or organization, and you must maintain your GPA for your scholarship level. Please be aware that you are expected to track this and report it on the service and involvement form which will be available to you soon. If you have any questions please contact the PLP office.

The Virginia Symphony Orchestra has graciously extended you all the opportunity to attend their performances at a discounted price of $10 per ticket. This is a great opportunity if you enjoy a variety of performances and would like things in addition to the Ferguson Center productions. You can look up their productions at www.virginiasymphony.org and there is also a brochure in Kristen Kang’s office.
But on Saturday, November 29th at 8pm, there is a show called the Magical Music of Walt Disney. I know there are some of you out there who love Disney songs as much as I do, so I thought it would be fun activity to get a group together to go. It is at the Chrysler Hall in Norfolk and would be $10. If you are interested in going, please e-mail me at Kristen.kang@cnu.edu and we can figure out some detailsJ

PLP SERVICE: upcoming trips, outings and events

· BINGO at the Newport Nursing Home
Description:
PLP Student volunteers will play BINGO with elderly residents. Duties include game callers and game helpers. Volunteers are asked to bring a small (non-edible) item to give away as a prize.

· Nelson Elementary Holiday Craft Fair and Children’s Workshop – NEW
Description:
R.O. Nelson Elementary School is looking for volunteers to help them with their 10th annual Holiday Craft Fair and Children’s Workshop. Children can choose from over 30 different gifts to handcraft for family and friends for the holidays. Volunteers would primarily help the children make their crafts.

Description:
The Victory Family YMCA needs volunteers to decorate and fill boxes with food that will be donated. Help also needed to collect donated food items. It is a family fun event for the entire community.

· Relay for Life – SAVE THE DATE!!
The CNU Colleges Against Cancer would like you to SAVE THE DATE: Christopher Newport University’s 4th Annual Relay for Life on April 4, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Note: please remember this event when scheduling your organization’s events. We hope Relay for Life can bring all organizations together and we would love your participation and support!

· CNU Habitat for Humanity Chapter
We are looking for students interested in starting a campus chapter for Habitat for Humanity here at CNU. This would allow us to work alongside the local Peninsula HFH and give us priority registration for next year’s spring break trip. Having a campus chapter would allow us to take more students on the spring break trip. Those interested should contact Chris Fox – christopher.fox@cnu.edu.
