Donate School Supplies to Refugees!
Refugee and Immigration Services is in need of school supplies for 25 new refugee children! These children are from Togo, Myanmar, Bhutan, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. They are in desperate need of:
If you are interested in tutoring English to refugees or in other refugee/immigrant volunteer opportunities please let Jacqui know and she will put you in contact with the office. Catholic Refugee and Immigration Services is very much in need of dedicated English tutors!

- 1/2 inch binders
- Spiral notebooks
- 2 pocket folders
- Packs of ruled paper
- Pencils
- Pens

Hey everyone, below you will find a color-coded calendar for the semester as we have it right now. Red events are mandatory. Green events are social. Blue events have service opportunities. (Note: more service opportunities will be added as they become available, please keep checking this blog for them)

September:
Workshops begin: Monday 8th of September (Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors only)
Mandatory Speaker: Tuesday 9th, 7pm in the Ferguson Music & Theater Hall (Please arrive by 6:50)
Back to school Bash @ Brian's House! Wednesday the 10th 4-7pm. Directions will be posted here later, and rides will be provided at specific times. Come have pizza, chips, and soda while hanging out with the PLP Staff!
Interviewer applications due: September 26th (See Matt Creasy)
Mandatory Speaker: Tuesday 30th, 7pm in the Ferguson Music & Theater Hall (Please arrive by 6:50)
October:
Family Weekend: 10th-12th PLP events TBA
Mandatory Speaker: Tuesday 14th, 7pm in the Ferguson Music & Theater Hall (Please arrive by 6:50)
Costume Bash: 29th 7-9:30 PM, Black box theater of the Ferguson Center. Come dressed in a costume for this awesome PLP party!
November:
PLP admissions day, 7th - overnight hosts, game night in York River West
Homecoming & PLP 10th Anniversary: 8th, Events TBA
PLP Admissions day, 14th - overnight hosts, variety show
December:
PLP Bonfire: 7pm-9pm - come join the PLP staff for an awesome night of hanging out with smores and hot chocolate!

Workshop Update!!!
Hey guys, Kristen here. I've been getting some questions about workshops and I'm so glad that you are on top of things! We are working on an online system that will take the place of your service and involvement forms. This is a very exciting development that we have been working long and hard to create with the IT department. The system is ready but needs to be uploaded to the CNU server somewhere. There has been a delay with that because of the energy being spent to get everyone's internet on campus working properly. SO, this relates to workshops because you will be able to view an online calendar and sign yourself up for workshops. You will be able to see your attendance record for the workshops as well as speakers, community service, your personal information. So please be on the lookout for this new system and go log in and sign up for workshops and enter your personal information as soon as possible. Also, a correction is that the workshops are starting on Monday, September 8, NOT the 2nd so there is a little more of a time cushion before we get rolling.

Welcome Back!!
Welcome back students! We’re extremely glad to have you all back, it is so quiet here in the summers! This is the newly created PLP Blog. You will be able to check it for updates, RSVP for events, comment on entries and ask questions. We believe this will be a great step in the evolution of the program.
Also, as you come up to the office you will notice some changes. Kristen and Lori have their own offices now, Matt is around the corner in Chris Fox’s old office. Also, our lounge area has changed and we no longer have large mailboxes for all of you. Instead, we have 4 accordion files in which we will place notes and other mailings for you. Please come and check this once per week as you did your previous mail boxes. They are located right next to Jacqui Mann’s desk—if you need help finding anything or anyone please ask one of us!
Freshmen, remember those journals you wrote for leadership adventure? Well, they’re all graded and waiting for you to pick them up in Matt Creasy’s office. Just stop on by to pick them up! If Matt is not in his office, please ask another staff member to help.
