THE ENCOURAGEMENT
We know it’s been THAT week. That week of the semester. The week farenough away from finals for professors to ask for all the assignmentsbefore that test. We know you may be stressed. We know you are tired. Wealso know…YOU’RE ALMOST DONE! So…BE ENCOURAGED! The sun is out. Tomorrow is Friday. And you only have TWO WEEKS left of classes. Seniors—be encouraged, life doesn’t end after college. Just come to the Real World workshop…and find out. TRUST ME, you’ll want to hear what is going to be said. It will help.
You guys are amazing. You are greatly loved. ENJOY these last few weeks.

As many of you may know, CHRIS AND JILL FOX HAD THEIR BABY!!! Luke Christopher Fox was born yesterday afternoon, weighing in at 8 pounds1 ounce and measuring 18.5 inches in length! CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS!

Study Abroad Scholarships!
Announcing NEW opportunities!
The Global Institute for Leadership & Civic Development is now offering select PLP Students scholarships of $5,000-$6,000 to attend their Fall 2009 Prague semester program! While on this semester study abroad you will automatically attend the International Leadership Association conference, as this semester program is fully endorsed by the ILA. You will also be able to take courses in leadership studies, political science, humanities, law, international relations and diplomacy, journalism, business, or sociology.
These scholarships are in addition to any scholarships you get through the PLP--meaning you could study abroad for a whole semester for around the same price as a summer program!
Seniors! Interested but not sure? These credits can be taken at the graduate level! Allowing you to work towards a higher degree after graduating from CNU!
If you have any questions or are interested in this opportunity, please come up to the PLP office and speak with Matthew Creasy.

Brief Bio for Chief G. Anne RichardsonChief, Rappahannock Indian Tribe
G. Anne Richardson is the Chief of the Rappahannock Indian Tribe, located in Indian Neck, Virginia. Chief Richardson was elected Chief in 1998, and as such is the first woman to be elected as a tribal chief in Virginia since the 1600’s. Born to Chief & Mrs. Captain Nelson of Indian Neck, she is a fourth generation Chief in her family. Her academic background is in business and her professional career has been in business management and non-profit administration. She has one daughter and four grandchildren.
Chief Richardson has many other leadership and professional credits, including her current membership of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Native American Programs Advisory Council, which advises the Secretary of Labor on Indian and Native American workforce development issues. She is also the Executive Director of Mattaponi-Pamunkey-Monacan (MPM) Consortium, Inc., a consortium of Virginia tribes formed to administer American Indian employment and training programs in Virginia. Chief Richardson has also served on Virginia’s State Advisory Council for the U.S Commission on Civil Rights. She is a staunch advocate for American Indian higher education, community and economic development, and has maintained a lifelong effort of continuous work to improve relationships between American Indian tribes and the state and federal governments.

THE ENCOURAGEMENT
SPRING BREAK IS ALMOST HERE!!!! Just a few more days. You’re almost there. Finish strong and USE YOUR SPRING BREAK WELL. Get some rest. Reflect. Exercise. Laugh. Watch a movie. Hang out with friends. Read a good book. Learn something new. STILL DO THINGS…just not stressful ones. Breathe. Wake up early. Sleep in late. Appreciate the time you have and the people you get to spend it with. Make wise decisions. Learn from past mistakes. We hope you come back genuinely refreshed from Spring Break…don’t waste it—ENJOY IT!

Good afternoon PLP! We hope you got the most out of your SNOW DAY this lovely week before SPRING(!?!?) break. We also wanted to send a huge thank you to all of you who braved the roads to come out to Cheeseburger in Paradise to support our Spring Break team going to serve Habitat for Humanity! As you’re anticipating the arrival of Spring Break, we simply ask that you would evaluate your progress in fulfilling your PLP requirements for the semester in relation to:
